The Setup program was developed for use on the IBM PC and true compatibles to perform routine monitor unit and timer calculations for most types of radiation therapy machines. Originally developed for use by the physicist, the Setup Program has become a popular method of independantly checking the calculations and computer generated treatment plans as well as providing a means of standardizing therapy calculations performed by all members of the staff. The Setup program is easy to learn and convenient to use.
The program saves the previous 200 calculations for instant recall for revised calculations. The calculation of TMR and equivalent equare are determined by cubic spline interpolation. Minor blocking is achieved through a substraction of areas method.
The Setup Program provides a utility to perform NSD and TDF calculations for fractionated therapy. These Calculations include: Nominal Standard Dose, Time-Dose Factor, Rest Decay and Dose Calculations.
If you have treatment planning facilities, the Setup Program offers a valuable verification tool to check planning computer calculations. If you do not have computer planning facilities PC Setup can save hours of land calculation time and offer you the satisfaction of knowing that the calculations are standardized and accurate.
The Revise program which is supplied with the Setup program allows entry and revision of data using a graphical approach which improves the ability to find and correct errors in the data. Version 3.4 also allows the use of a label printer which is easily attached to the patient's chart and the ability to compensate for minor blocking by entering the treated field.
NOTE: This program is intended to be used as a quality assurance tool to check the calculation results of a treatment planning system and is not intended to be the primary means of treatment planning.
